Welcome to Blackwater

Blackwater Soap Guild makes fantasy-inspired whipped soap for adventurers who could use a little more magic in the mundane parts of life.

But the story didn’t start with soap.

It started with a world.

Chapter I

This Place Has Been Around for a While

Long before there was a Blackwater Soap Guild, there was Blackwater Cove.

I originally created this world for the D&D games I ran with friends. What started as somewhere to send a party of adventurers gradually became something much larger — cities, strange places, questionable characters, magical ingredients, and more bits of lore than any reasonable person probably needs.

In the real world, I work in technology.

Blackwater Cove and everything around it is our own setting. Blackwater Soap Guild isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by or licensed by Wizards of the Coast or Hasbro — the campaigns are just where the world got its start.

The escape

“After enough hours spent staring at screens, fantasy became my way of disappearing somewhere completely different for a while.”

Blackwater was part of that escape.
And eventually, I found another one.

Chapter II

Then I Started Making Things That Smelled Good

I started making candles and quickly became fascinated with scent.

Not just whether something smelled good, but what it could feel like.

    What would the fae serve at a feast deep inside the Feywild?

    What exactly would someone put into a questionable love potion sold from the back shelf of an apothecary?

I started mixing scents around places, objects, and stories from the world I’d spent years creating.

Chapter III · The turn

Eventually I realized I didn’t just want to make products inspired by fantasy.

I wanted to build the shop itself.

And So, Blackwater Soap Guild Opened Its Doors

In the world of Blackwater, the Cove began as a hidden place where pirates, smugglers, merchants, and anyone else avoiding unnecessary questions could trade their wares.

Over time, it became something much bigger.

Ships arrived carrying strange plants, rare spices, enchanted brews, mysterious artifacts, and ingredients gathered from places most sensible people wouldn’t visit.

Naturally, somebody had to figure out what to do with all of it.

That’s where the Blackwater Soap Guild comes in.

Around here, those ingredients find their way into jars of whipped soap inspired by the places, creatures, potions, and stories scattered throughout the world.

Because why drink your potion when you can bathe in it?

Blackwater Soap Guild is my way of combining two things I’ve grown to love: creating this ridiculous fantasy world and experimenting with scents that make parts of it feel just a little more real.

The result happens to be soap.
